Wakarusa River Watershed

The Upper Wakarusa River Watershed and Clinton Reservoir are a sub-basin within the Lower Kansas River Watershed. The Upper Wakarusa River is a high priority areas because of its importance in determining the water quality and sedimentation rate of Clinton Reservoir, which is a major municipal water source and is used for flood control. The Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) has identified fecal coliform bacteria and total suspended solids as concerns in the watershed, and eutrophication caused by excess nutrients as a concern in the reservoir.
