Directions:
From I-70 take the east Lawrence exit #204 and turn right on U.S. 24/59 going north. Continue north approximately 1 mile to the first 3 way intersection for U.S. 24/40&59. Turn left (west) onto blacktop/gravel road going over railroad tracks and over the levee. Follow this road and you will go by a gravel parking lot and come to a large blacktop staging area surrounded by trees with the ramp at the far end.

Access Info:
Cars should be left in the gravel parking area, not the paved area while boating. The park is patrolled and well maintained by the city of Lawrence. The 16 foot wide concrete boat ramp at 12% slope is well protected from drift wood and silt.

Float Info:
CAUTION! Do not proceed below this point as Bowersock Dam is 1.7 mile downstream and during construction of the new power plant on river left there is NO PORTAGE around the dam! You must make arrangements to portage your boat and gear with a vehicle to the 8th Street Access Park in north Lawrence.  The only other exit opportunity below River Front Park and before Bowersock Dam is Burcham Park which is approximately one mile downstream on the right. The KU Women's Rowing Team Boat docks are there during the rowing team season, otherwise the only way to exit is to scramble a 1-3 foot mud bank onto the public park grounds. Burcham Park is within several blocks of downtown Lawrence. The first access upstream is Rising Sun Access at river mile 64.3.
