River Mile: 47.3     GPS:  N38.98331  W95.16781
River Left

Directions:
From I-70 take the east Lawrence exit # 204 and follow U.S. 59 north approximately 1 mile to the junction of U.S.24/40 (called Tee Pee Junction by the locals). Turn east on U.S. 24/40 and follow the highway east past the Lawrence Airport to 1600E Road. Turn south on 1600E Road and go 1 mile and under the Turnpike to 1700 N Road. Turn east on 1700N and look for a street sign for 1675E on the right near railroad tracks. Turn right on this road and cross the railroad tracks. Follow this road 1.2 miles as it curves left. You will see another railroad crossing and a levee. Turn just before the Mud Creek Bridge to a gated entrance. Unlock the gate and drive 500 yards on the access road until it dead-ends into a small parking lot with a concrete ramp. (Be sure to lock the gate after you use it.) This is not an easy access to find - good luck!

Access Info:
Access is public, but gate to the access road is locked. To use the ramp you must first secure a key from the Lawrence City Hall (785-832-3450.) A deposit is required with identification. Access gets heavy use by fishermen and it has a small grass parking lot and concrete boat ramp. There is a 1/3 mile paddle down Mud Creek to get to the Kaw.

Float Info:
The next access is Eudora (up the Wakarusa) 5.3 miles downstream at river mile 42. First access upstream is the Eight Street ramp in Lawrence at river mile 51.  If you plan to take out at the Mud Creek access ramp note the entrance to Mud Creek is on river left on the north side of the island you see in the map above.  If you plan to take out at the Eudora access ramp be sure to review the instructions on entering the Wakarusa River on the Eudora page.
