The Kaw is #1 in "20 Reasons We Love Kansas" in the winter edition of the KANSAS MAGAZINE. The article highlights the Kansas River Water Trail, the ceremony marking the designation on July 14, 2012 and  has a quote from the Riverkeeper! Friends of the Kaw and the Kansas Riverkeeper were also featured in the November 15, 2012 episode of Sunflower Journeys - Clean Water Act's 40th Anniversary, Hydraulic Fracturing, Plains People - Laura Calwell.   FOK's segment is about two thirds of the way through the program and features a float trip between the De Soto and Cedar Creek ramps on the Kaw.  Last but not least last August we worked on a Kansas River story with Heather Holligsworth, an AP reporter. Her article titled "Canoes, kayaks lured to  Kansas' prairie river"  was featured in several newspapers across the country this fall including the San Francisco Chronicle, Denver Post, Columbia Daily Tribune and the Chicago Herald.  All in all it has been a very successful year for Friends of the Kaw and our Kaw River advocacy has been promoted both nationally and locally.
