Happy Holidays from Friends of the Kaw

posted Dec 14, 2011, 3:42 PM by Laura Calwell
We are very lucky to have so many folks who care about the health of the Kansas River - hundreds of comments were sent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concerning the proposed expansion of in-river dredging on the Kansas River.  Those comments were a great gift to the Kaw.  Over 600,000 Kansans depend on the Kaw for their drinking water, and the river is home to many native animals and plants.  It's not too late to make a year end gift to Friends of the Kaw.  Your gift will help us keep dredging out of the river; continue to report and follow up on pollution violations; advocate for smart nutrient management to minimize run-off from farms, ranches and lawns and to demand enforcement of the Clean Water Act.
